Classic Brands

Trying out recipes at home is great, but there are some things that you just shouldn't try to replicate; they can't be bettered. Here are some brands that are still going strong.

Lowcock's Lemonade, Newbould's pies, Petche's pies and an honorary mention to Bradford based Seabrook's - the best crisps in the world.

Lowcocks Lemonade

Although their lemonade was a great drink I was rather partial to their more 'colourful' flavours, in particular Dandelion & Burdock (or 'Dandie') and American Cream Soda. Good to see it is still going strong, with sightings of their lemonade vans doing the rounds on Teesside.

Follow them on Facebook to place an order, or chase one of their vans next time you see it.

Newboulds was a bit of an institution in Middlesbrough. From the distinctive Newboulds logo to their saveloys and pork pies, they are still going strong with shops around the North East and an online store.

Petch's pies

Great Ayton's and possibly the world's finest pork pies. People will travel a long way to sample these superb pies. When I was living down south my Mam and Dad would bring a couple down with them when they visited; one to eat and one to freeze for later. Definitely best eaten straight out of the shop though. A perfect mix of good meat, jelly and pastry! Plenty of fans on Facebook swear by them.

Seabrook Crisps

Bradford-based Seabrook crisps are, in my opinion the best crisps/potato chips in the world. Crinkle-cut and extreme of flavour, they blow bland efforts from the likes of Walkers out of the water. If they don't sell them where you live, which is likely, you can order them online at the Seabrook website, by the mix and match boxload!
